The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering is now seeking exceptional scholars to join us as Assistant Professors / Associate Professors / Professors in the areas of Mechanical Engineering.
About the Department
This is an exciting opportunity to join Department of Mechanical, materials and manufacturing engineering at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China, an dynamic and fast growing department, to contribute your talent for the department further development. The department offers BEng (Hons) Product Design and Manufacture (2+2, 4+0) and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2+2, 4+0) programmes which cover mechanics, dynamics, kinetics, thermodynamics, energy, fluids, materials, manufacture, ergonomics and design.
The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering has strong links with the corresponding departments in the UK and Malaysia campuses of the University of Nottingham. Its exceptionally close involvement with Chinese and international institutions and industries ensures a high quality teaching and research in the relevant professional fields.
About You
The successful candidate will be expected to lead and deliver lectures and seminars in the topics within mechanical engineering and product design manufacture but a strong industrial design background would be particularly welcome. We are looking for a world class research leader to strengthen our team of international experts, specializing in at least one of the following areas:
You will be expected to have extensive research experience and expertise in either mechanical Engineering or Industrial/Product Design and Manufacturing but with a focus on Product Design. Candidates with expertise in product design, ergonomics and the use of industrial design software are highly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to join the Advanced Intelligent Manufacturing Research Group (AIMRG) which is a leading, research group in the areas of innovative design practice research with the focus on the methods, tools and technologies to improve the way we design and process, create and apply new technologies for design, increase knowledge of how we design; and facilitate innovation in the things we design and smart manufacturing processes for high-value industries (e.g. aerospace, automotive, reactive manufacturing, energy materials, medical devices, optical systems, high precision moulding). The AIMRG group is a growing and dynamic research group aiming to achieve world-recognised status in the field of advanced intelligent manufacturing processes in the next 5 years.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to supervise undergraduate and masters dissertations. The person appointed will be expected to conduct original research in appropriate fields and play a lead role in collaborative research projects, leading to high quality publications and grant income. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with the administration of the Faculty of Science and Engineering in general and thus contribute to the Departments growth in the fields of Product Design and Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering.
Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support
Successful candidate will be offered a fixed-term contract for up to 5 years, which may be extended by mutual agreement.
