The Role
The UK's National Innovation Centre for Ageing at Newcastle University has been funded by Government and the University to create a world in which we all live better, for longer. We team with innovation experts, industry, academics and the public, to identify, develop and bring to market data driven innovative business models, services and products enhancing life as we age and developing new economic opportunities for organisations while promoting positive impact on society at scale.
We wish to ramp-up the Centre's Ageing Intelligencetm mission to develop software-based solutions dedicated to the ageing population and their stakeholders. You'll be part of a cross-functional team that's responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment.
We are looking for specialist senior software engineers with expertise in web application development with a focus on the front end and UI/UX.
To apply, please complete the online application and attach a CV and covering letter. In your covering letter please outline how you are either working towards, meet or exceed all of the requirements for this role and the essential criteria in the Knowledge, Skills and Experience section below. Interviews will take place on Tuesday 6th June 2023.
As part of the interview process please come prepared to talk for 10 minutes on a software project you have worked on. Describe what the software does at a high level and spend a couple of minutes talking about a specific piece of the code; this could be a single class or function. The purpose of the presentation is for you to explain code to someone else. It is not a programming competency test, and you are not being tested on the correctness of the code or if it compiles or runs. The software can be written in any language and you can present using any tools you like.
