Senior Lecturer (Research Lead - MSc Systemic) (E&S)

University of Exeter - Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

Location: Exeter
Salary: The starting salary will be from £48,423 pro rata per annum on Grade G, depending on qualifications and experience. This post may attract a Market Supplement to NHS AfC Band 8b depending on qualifications and experience.
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 24th May 2023
Closes: 14th June 2023
Job Ref: S72414

This new part-time post is immediately available until 31 July 2025 on a fixed term basis. It is routine for all CEDAR posts to be fixed term. However, they are renewed when funding is confirmed. The MSc is currently an annual programme and is expecting to be boosted by the NHS Apprenticeship programme in 2024/25.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

The context

The Systemic Portfolio at University of Exeter (HLS/CEDAR) is an expanding portfolio which includes a range of training courses including: an MSc (Qualifying level Family/Systemic Psychotherapy), a Post-Graduate Diploma (Systemic Family Practice CYP-IAPT), a Systemic Supervisors course (Accredited), a Tier 4 (young peoples’ in-patient: Foundation level) course, DClinPsych (Foundation level) input, the Youth Intensive Psychological Practitioners’ programme and Family Interventions in Psychosis (Foundation level) course. The Portfolio also includes a pilot intervention of Attachment Based Family Therapy in in-patient care. Due to this expansion and the recent HEE funding for qualifying level courses, the Co-Directors are seeking to recruit a range of new staff members.

The University of Exeter is moving towards a ‘blended’ approach to teaching so some of the teaching input will be expected to be remote but there will be an expectation of significant face to face input.

The role

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Research Lead for the Family / Systemic Psychotherapy team in Clinical Education Development and Research (CEDAR).  This part time post (FTE 0.4) will have responsibility for coordinating the systemic research teaching and dissertation supervision within the Systemic Portfolio.

The MSc Psychological Therapies: Research and Practice (Family/ Systemic Psychotherapy) programme is led by nationally recognised academics and clinicians who pursue an evidence based and integrative approach to family therapy and systemic practice.

We wish to increase the quality and range of the systemic projects undertaken by our students. The Research Lead post will contribute to systemic research teaching and supervise a number of MSc research projects as well as supervising Research Tutors and Academic tutors in their research supervision roles.  We are also hoping this Lead will become an integral part of the research profile of the systemic portfolio. The Research Lead will be part of a senior team lead by the Co-Directors of the Systemic Portfolio.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.
