Job description
The Department of Informatics is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Computer Science (Software Engineering and/or Cloud).
This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to grow our department and realise our vision of a diverse, inclusive and innovative department of Informatics at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. We seek applicants who will support us in our ambitions in inclusivity and diversity.
As we continue to grow and strengthen our department, we are seeking to make a lecturer appointment in the area of computer science. We welcome applications from candidates who have an international profile in research in any of the following areas: software engineering (testing, analysis and verification, software performance engineering, software architectures, DevOps), service-oriented-architectures and cloud computing, programming languages, runtime systems, and programming environments. We would also be interested in applicants who are working in emerging areas in the field, including the application to artificial intelligence and machine learning.
We consider computer science challenges from a broad perspective. Members of the department regularly publish in and sit on the program committees of top-tier and well-known venues in computer science and software engineering. Top-quality research establishes members of the Department as leaders in their fields. It is the research transformative aspect that provides the opportunity to serve society while supporting King’s as an outstanding institution in science and technology. The Department has strong links with industry, who engage with us in collaborative research projects.
We offer undergraduate and postgraduate education (in both computer science and artificial intelligence) catering for the needs of our students and the organisations in which they will work. It is essential that applicants have the enthusiasm and commitment needed to ensure the success of these programmes. The successful applicant for this post will be involved in delivering teaching in a core area of computer science.
The successful candidate will be appointed to the Software Systems (SSY) group and will have the opportunity to contribute to cross-cutting hubs (see kcl.ac.uk/nms/depts/informatics/research/index.aspx). Research collaboration across research groups, with departmental hubs and with other Departments in the Faculty and across the College is strongly encouraged.
