Lead/Senior Developer

University of Warwick

The University of Warwick is seeking Senior and Lead Developers to join the Warwick Employment Group (WEG). The role is perfect for developers with a track record in web-based applications and services who are interested in being part of something new.  These roles are an excellent opportunity for someone with extensive software development experience and a strong standards-driven approach to contribute to the delivery of new systems using technologies including Angular, C#, SQL Server and AWS.

The successful candidate will receive a salary of up to £63k DOE, comprehensive benefits package including USS pension, 34 days holiday plus bank holidays and a superb working environment, including hybrid working practices. Job Purpose:

To bring extensive software development knowledge to a team of developers of varying degrees of experience and lead the development of WEG’s portfolio of applications whilst working with the Project Management Office to deliver functionality for our new recruitment applications.

This role will set and maintain coding standards and lead by example whilst mentoring and coaching less experienced team members.  It will also have significant input on new technology selection where opportunities to do so arise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To work with Business Analysts, Project Managers and the business to recommend best-fit approaches and technologies for projects
  • Offer leadership and guidance with the development and deployment of new systems and features using Agile methodologies
  • Recommend and deliver best-practice standards for development such as code quality, unit testing, continual improvement, etc.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy of the development team, making a real contribution to the future of WEG’s IT department.
  • Help build the right standards, working environment and team expectations for a happy and competent team
  • Set and monitor coding standards with support of other team members
