The Department of Architecture and Built Environment is now seeking exceptional scholars to join us as Assistant Professors / Associate Professors in Building Services Engineering. 

About the School/Department 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Architecture and Built Environment to get engaged with teaching and research in a dynamic working environment. Focused on sustainability and innovation, the Department provides a unique opportunity for excellent scholars to play a vital role in delivering our Architectural Environment Engineering (AEE) programme. The Department also offers an undergraduate degree in Architecture, a Postgraduate degree in Urbanism, and Ph.D. programmes. We provide an international platform to nurture critical thinkers and deliver world-class research that fosters collaboration internally and externally. We continuously work with major stakeholders in the industry and various organisations. The Departments engineering programme capitalizes on the growing demand in major areas such as green technologies, green innovation, smart and healthy buildings, building science, big data analytics, digital design, and carbon neutrality. With Chinas growing economy, we are leading by example toward low carbon and sustainable development. 

About You 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate programme of architectural environment engineering (a CIBSE-accredited program) with a focus on building MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) design and operation, to play a lead role in collaborative research projects and conduct ongoing original research and publications in the areas of building services engineering, energy technologies in the built environment, digital and smart technologiesin the built environment. 

Candidates must have a PhD degree and preferably postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline, preferable in areas related to HVAC engineering, building services engineering, building and urban energy systems, integrated energy systems in buildings , etc., and excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Knowledge and experience of Building Services Engineering are necessary. Experience of supervising PhD and Master students and experience of teaching, tutorial or laboratory work at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English speaking institution are preferable (For associate professor level, experience of supervising Ph.D. students to completion in an internationally recognised institution is necessary). 

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support 

Successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages while supporting the wellbeing of our staff to help them reach their full potential. Salary will be within the range of RMB 439,794 to RMB 579,126 per annum for Assistant Professor, RMB 620,374 to RMB 762,597 per annum for Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, you will have a range of benefits and entitlements, including accommodation allowance, insurances, schooling support, home flight, relocation  repatriation support, and paid annual leave.
