About the Role
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the group of Dr Yung-Yao Lin at the Blizard Institute. The Lin group has made significant contribution towards elucidating mechanisms underlying neuromuscular disorders, disease modelling, drug discovery and regenerative medicine (Roscioli et al. Nature Genetics 2012; Kim et al. EMBO Reports, 2019; Paredes-Redondo et al. Science Advances, 2021). The appointee will work on an interdisciplinary project that focuses on using human iPSC-based preclinical models to develop effective treatments for neuromuscular diseases within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
About You
Potential applicants with a PhD degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualification are highly desirable. Experience with human stem cell culture and differentiation, bioengineering, drug screening, calcium imaging analysis and molecular cell biology will be advantageous to the post. The appointee will work as an effective member of the team and ensure the smooth running of the research project in different collaborative sites.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 12 months. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £36,572 - £44,722 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
