As a Professor joining the School of Biosciences, you will be an active researcher and you will make a critical contribution to the University of Sheffield.
You will be a leader in the broad field of Global Carbon Capture, encompassing mitigation and natural carbon sinks, carrying out biological research that complements and supports our strengths in this area. This overarching theme integrates research across several of our leading groups. The Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation (LC3M) is providing evidence and solutions for the deployment of enhanced rock weathering as a means to remove carbon dioxide from the environment. Our research on natural ecosystems and ecology provides the means for monitoring and mitigating vegetation and biodiversity losses at a global scale; our work in agriculture considers the impact of farming practices on greenhouse gas emissions and capture from the environment by crops and soils, whilst our fundamental studies are uncovering the mechanistic details of plant gas exchange and photosynthesis.
You will lead high quality independent, and collaborative research programs and shape the wider research area in Sheffield. The University's expectations of the qualities and responsibilities of its academic staff are captured by the concept of the Sheffield Academic. The role of the Sheffield Academic is underpinned by a number of core values and qualities that are essential to the scholarly pursuit and communication of knowledge in this University.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
