We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual to join our busy Estates and Facilities team. The post holder will play a key role providing professional Building Surveying services, to support the Estates and Facilities department in providing a safe and welcoming campus where our student and staff can study, grow and expand their knowledge skills in a flexible, agile and sustainable environment. 

You will play a lead role in the delivery of the Universities Estates Capital Master Plan programme, assisting with the delivery of the Estates Strategy and improving our estates infrastructure through a quality maintenance service, to provide modern and sustainable high-quality teaching and research environment across campus and halls of residence.

Key responsibilities and attributes of the successful applicant 

  • Ensure capital projects and campus buildings conform to the required standards for energy and sustainability.
  • Prepare briefs, liaising with clients and stakeholders and any other service providers for small projects.
  • Liaise with other Estates and Facilities to ensure that costs are being appropriately charged, with regards to works, space and utilities charges. 
  • Manage and appoint contractors and consultants in accordance with St George’s, University of London policies and procedures. 
  • Undertake quality inspections and audits of both the “Hard Services Maintenance Contract” and Capital Projects.
  • Accurate worker and high attention to detail including when under pressure
  • Passion for delivering a great service and good customer service
  • High level of prioritisation and organisation to manage a high volume of work and priorities effectively 
  • Strong organisational, time-management and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and personal initiative to solve problems, a self-starter with ability to work unsupervised
