Research Associate (Fixed Term)

University of Cambridge - MRC Biostatistics Unit

This position is to work with Dr Pavel Mozgunov within Efficient Study Design (ESD) research theme of the MRC Biostatistics Unit (BSU) and Dr Nikos Demiris, a lead statistician at Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit - Cancer Theme (CCTU-CT). Half of the post will be spent on developing novel cancer clinical trial designs and another half will take cancer clinical trials from initial ideas and design, through conduct and analysis, to final publication and dissemination of results.

The job will involve the development of statistical methodology clinical trials under the guidance of the line managers and implementation of innovative adaptive designs (possibly developed by the successful candidate themselves) in practice. It is expected that the post-holder will take a lead on the direction of the project after the initial period.

Specific duties will include:

- Develop early phase cancer clinical trials that account for the individual patient characteristics and allows for more efficient use of information

- Work as a trial statistician within the CCTU-CT on innovative adaptive clinical trials

- Support junior trial statisticians with development and implementation of advanced clinical trial designs

- Contribute to knowledge exchange activities such as workshops and provision of software.

- Write scientific papers, and contribute to the overall preparation of research for publication

Candidates for Research Associate position will have a PhD in Statistics, or a relevant subject with a strong fundamental quantitative component. The required training will be provided to the successful candidate upon the start of the role.
