The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences is seeking a Reader or Professor to lead interdisciplinary research, scholarship, and/or teaching activities at the interface of digital and mechanical engineering disciplines with a particular focus on the application of high-performance computing. The role is expected to lead, champion, and role model the use of HPC across the College and University in line with the Aston 2030 strategy.
The post will be appointed into the Aston School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies which is comprised of four departments: Applied Maths and Data Science, Applied Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Software Engineering and Cybersecurity, and Electronics and Computer Engineering. The successful candidate will be appointed to a department appropriate to their expertise but is expected to act as a bridge into all aspects of Aston’s academic portfolio. Interdisciplinary experience is therefore particularly important.
The school is experiencing a period of growth in terms of research activity and student recruitment in the digital sciences: computer science, computational modelling, artificial intelligence, and data science.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who can contribute to the growth of the college by establishing new programmes in areas of interest such as Aerospace, and who have substantial leadership experience in a dual-intensive environment.
