Job Summary – The Communications, Drama & Film Department at the University of Exeter are looking for a recent graduate to work alongside their busy technical team. You will be supporting the work of undergraduate and postgraduate students in their use of practical & technical facilities and resources, ensuring all resources are ready for use, when necessary, in good order, and to prepare and set-up spaces for performances, workshops, film shoots and other events, working with students and academic staff. The Department has a strong practical emphasis and wishes to ensure standards of safety and professionalism, whilst maintaining a pleasant working environment during a busy and complex schedule. This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership scheme and offers full-time hours (36.5 hours per week) from October 2023 to June 2024. You will be based in offices in central Exeter. About You - You should be a graduate who has enthusiasm and experience of working with entertainment technology at any level, suitable degree-level education ideally in an area related to the creative industries, and prior experience of professional theatrical lighting and/or sound design, or rigging experience, or film/tv production including working on a team to create theatre productions or filmed projects. You should have skills in Microsoft Office, be confident navigating social media, be an effective communicator and have the ability to work to deadlines. You should have excellent written, verbal & interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of people. The ability to work on own initiative, knowledge of lighting, sound or video editing software, and an understanding of the process of mounting a theatrical production and/or a narrative film/video.
