Research

This position for a postgraduate research assistant is a great opportunity for an individual with a Nursing, Midwifery or Allied Health Professions background to gain research experience and develop research skills. This is a fixed term, part time (15 hours per week) role for 11 months. The overall purpose of this postgraduate research assistant position is to contribute to a research programme and academic citizenship/service aiming to build research capacity and capability amongst Allied Health Professions across both Oxford Brookes University (OBU) and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OH). 

Overview of goals of the postgraduate research assistant position:

Research-related: 

Work closely with the immediate line manager/Professor of Rehabilitation to:

  • Determine current research capacity, capability and involvement among OH clinicians
  • Identify perceptions, expectations, benefits, disadvantages, barriers and enablers to research involvement and collaboration between OH and OBU
  • Determine the current impact of research in OH
  • Create Research Priority Areas/themes for AHPs in OH
  • Scope the literature for existing local and international AHP Research strategies

Academic citizenship/service-related: 

Work closely with the immediate line manager/Professor of Rehabilitation to:

  • Identify and create awareness of research opportunities, themes and activities within OxInAHR among OH clinicians
  • Create a platform/ learning pathway with “getting started” information with resources from OBU and OH (collaborate with Prof Carding working on resource for clinical-academic careers – OH, OUH, OBU, ARC)
  • Make disseminating research via publication and congresses less daunting through a collection of resources
  • Create a database of researchers and clinicians with an interest in research or taking a lead in research
  • Arrange a Research Capacity and Capability Confidence Building Away Day between OBU and OH for staff interested in doing clinical research
