About the Role
Applications are invited for a full-time Research Nurse/Clinical Research Practitioner post to facilitate the recruitment and management of adult and paediatric research studies involving participants diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), Type 2 diabetes (T2D) or obesity, conducted by the Barts Metabolism Network. Funded by Barts Charity, Barts Metabolism Network comprises five lead academics and their groups and brings together researchers from across the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry to investigate how changes in metabolism lead to obesity and the significant long-term health problems that this causes. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the clinical elements of the program including patient identification, consent, safety, data entry, governance, sample collection and use of a dedicated bioresource. Patients will be identified from children coming through obesity, endocrinology, diabetes, surgical and general paediatric services, adults undergoing bariatric surgery, and those in NAFLD or diabetes clinic.
About You
A nurse/CRP who is experienced in academic research studies. Experience in diabetes, or liver disease would be ideal, but we are particularly looking for enthusiasm and an ability to work autonomously and deliver recruitment in specified time and target.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL which aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full-time role, fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date as soon after interviews as possible. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £42,405-£49,785 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance depending on experience.
