The University of Sheffield International College is in search of a dedicated Built Environment Tutor to join our esteemed Social Science and Humanities Team. As an Academic Tutor for the IFY (International Foundation Year) The Built Environment module, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to our students, preparing them for success in their academic journey.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • The academic tutor will be responsible for teaching The Built Environment, a Level 3 module delivered to groups of international students. The teaching role includes marking assessments and the provision of feedback to students. 
  • The successful candidate will be competent in the use of IT skills related to teaching, including the use of VLEs.
  • The post holder will also act as a module coordinator and module developer. This involves leading the teaching team, carrying out Quality Assurance procedures, and ensuring that teaching materials are up to date. The role also requires the creation of both formative and summative assessments.
  • The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly as part of a busy team, contribute in meetings, communicate effectively with colleagues, and work to deadlines.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Landscape, Urban Studies or a related subject
  • A PhD or Master’s qualification in Architecture, Landscape, Urban Studies or a related subject (Desirable)
  • Teaching qualification (Desirable)
  • Experience in teaching Architecture, Landscape, or Urban Studies in UK Higher Education, Further Education or Sixth form, or equivalent teaching experience in a related field
  • Experience in writing and marking  assessments at a minimum of RQF level 3
  • Experience of assessment marking at a minimum of RQF level 3 (A-level/  Foundation level) or equivalent experience
  • Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills, using a Virtual Learning Environment (e.g. Blackboard)
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure

This role is part time (22.5 hours per week) - Fixed Term (01/10/2025)
