A strong commitment to research aimed at helping address major societal problems is desired. We are particularly interested in hiring academics who research: temporal and spatial integrated biogeochemical cycling at the Earth’s surface that may include coupling of carbon and other elemental (biotic and abiotic) cycling across the geobiosphere, the atmosphere and/or ocean interface; elemental isotope biogeochemistry; integrated ecosystem and biogeochemical modelling; other topics pertaining to nutrient bioavailability, pollution science and future projections of the operation of the carbon biogeochemical cycle; and who can develop synergies within our existing portfolio.

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is a lively and dynamic community that aims to promote sustainability through education, dissemination, and direct participation, enabling students and staff to make positive changes to our environmental impact, in particular supporting Cardiff University’s declaration of a Climate Emergency and aim to become carbon neutral (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030.

The School is also committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting inclusive working practices in STEMM subjects in higher education. Staff and students from the School are active members of the global Unlearning Racism in Geoscience (URGE) community. We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority because they are under-represented within the School at these levels.
