The University of Surrey, in partnership with Therme Group Services (UK) Limited, has an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Developer – Carbon Footprint, to take on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Project (KTP).
Therme Group Services is responsible for the strategic planning, development and roll out of Therme Group resorts in the UK. Therme Group, a global pioneer of inclusive urban wellbeing is bringing its wellbeing resort concept to cities throughout the UK, beginning with Therme Manchester. With a concept developed over 20 years ago, the group has a bold vision of wellbeing as a fundamental human right, accessible to all.
The focus of this KTP is to create the first comprehensive, science-based carbon footprint calculator for the services acquired by clients of the Visitor Economy. Knowing the carbon footprint of the acquired services is the first step for clients and Visitor Economy entities to address the sector’s significant impact on the environment. This position will be based at Therme Group Services in London (Richmond) and in collaboration with Professor Jhuma Sadhukhan and Dr Jonathan Chenoweth from the Centre for Environment and Sustainability, and Professor Xavier Font from the Centre For Sustainability and Wellbeing in the Visitor Economy at the University of Surrey.
Successful candidates will have a minimum postgraduate degree in Computer or Data Science, or Business Analytics, or a PhD in Life Cycle Assessment/Environment/Sustainability with strong Computer or Data Science skills and experience in some or all of: Power BI, SQL, Python, advanced Excel, and Data Visualisation, including Graphical User Interfaces. Ability to map business and information processes, present in reports and translate technical requirements into layperson’s language is also essential. An interest in the Visitor Economy and net zero ambition would be advantageous.
This position is offered on a 36-month, fixed-term contract. You will benefit from business-based training, a generous dedicated training budget & time ringfenced specifically for your further development, in addition to a diverse range of technical and non-technical skills (such as project management and leadership). There may be potential to secure a permanent job with Therme Group at the end of the KTP.
