MC Truck & Bus Ltd (part of the MC Group) is a successful and established truck dealer in the South of England. We operate multi-franchised dealer points alongside a dynamic rental business.  Looking to succession plan for our existing Training Manager who will be retiring soon; quick progression available!

Our head office at Maidstone, has a well-equipped training centre which boasts the latest technology in diagnostic equipment for Volvo trucks & buses including EV hybrid and LNG commercial vehicles. 

About you:

You will be creative, proactive, organised, flexible, results-oriented, and have a passion for and understanding of heavy goods vehicles. Outstanding communication, and organisational skills while demonstrating a positive and professional attitude is essential. Ideally, you'll be an experienced and confident trainer or lecturer who has experience of being in front of a classroom, with a demonstrated automotive background, preferably with HGV and electric vehicles. You will be happy working independently but also able to contribute strongly as a member of a high performing team. Main responsibilities will include: 

  • Day-to-day aspects of the training delivery and assessment of delegates on heavy vehicles including the following subjects.

IMI assessments for

    • Irtec HGV & PSV Inspection Technician
    • IMIAL Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (F-Gas Regulations)
    • Manufacturers training programme.
    • MC’s own in-house training programme
    • The Institute of Vehicle Recovery (IVR) Core Module
  • Plan and deliver technical training events in compliance with Volvo competence development standards
  • Support ongoing development of technical staff by devising and developing training plans arising from staff appraisals and Volvo requirements
  • Supporting with updating training material
  • Maintaining a safe working environment within the training centre
  • Using the LMS system (called Navigator) to maintain training records for reporting purposes
  • Attending relevant training events such as “train the trainer” to ensure your continual professional development and knowledge
  • Ensuring the skills and knowledge of the technical staff are kept up to date in line with changes within the industry including new product launches
  • Develop and utilise knowledge on latest training and development theory, in order to ensure this is incorporated into training programmes and delivery.
  • Ensuring your own technical knowledge is accurate and up to date.
  • Delivery of nationally recognised Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) qualifications
  • Deliver the Institute of Vehicle Recovery (IVR) core modules.
  • Contribute to a process of continual improvement

      Requirements for this role: 

  • An HGV technical background and work experience in a truck dealer desirable
  • A recognised industry qualification such as vehicle maintenance and repair ideally at level 3
  • Experience in delivering relevant technical training programmes that will have included recognised levels as assessor / trainer in IRTEC IMI IVR Core Module 
  • Level 4 teaching qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Excellent IT skills (excel, word, and experience of using a learning management system)
  • Full valid car driving licence. HGV ideal, but training will be arranged so not essential.
  • Willingness to travel to our other depots (Southampton, Essex, West Sussex & Kent) occasionally
