Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years. 

A fully funded 3 years (overseas or home) PhD Studentship is provided through a donation from Nokia Bell Labs to work in the general area of hearable devices and systems under the supervision of Prof Cecilia Mascolo.

The project will focus on understanding the potential and applications of devices worn around the ear for the purpose of fitness and health tracking. The specific aim of the studentship can range from systems contribution to efficient devices (given the form factor) to the novel exploration of the sensing capabilities of devices as well as the algorithmic innovation related to improving healthcare and fitness tracking through such devices.

The candidate we are looking for should be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual capable of thinking and working independently. Applicants are expected to have or obtain a Master's Degree in addition to First-class honours degree or good upper-second class honours degree from a UK university, or an equivalent standard from an overseas university, in a relevant subject such as computer science, biomedical engineering or information engineering. These positions are open to UK citizens or overseas students.
