The University of St Andrews is seeking an organic or inorganic chemist with experience in molecular synthesis to join a team of researchers aimed at developing new hybrid solids. The position is for 18 months and is funded through the European Research Council. The successful candidate will join the research group of Professor Russell Morris and will form part of a larger interdisciplinary team.
The role will involve the synthesis of precursors to metal-organic frameworks that also contan functional groups that can link to other materials. The overall goal of the whole project is to develop a new class of hybrid material. The role will focus on the molecular synthesis of the precursors, and will be primarily include organosilicon and/or organoboron chemistry.
The successful candidate should have a PhD in chemistry/related subject or show an aptitude to be of the standard of a PhD. The candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to quickly assimilate ideas from different areas.
