The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was established in 2004 and was the first Sino-foreign University to open its doors in China with the full approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is part of the University of Nottingham’s Global University, a world top 1% university (QS Ranking), with co-operation from Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, a key player in the education sector in China. The Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange will lead and manage the Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) Office. Reporting to the Vice Provost for RKE, they will bring strategic, managerial and executive leadership in developing and implementing the University of Nottingham’s RKE strategy. Working in partnership with academic and professional services staff, the Director will establish and meet achievable yet stretching targets and KPIs for all areas of activity and will provide review against these parameters. They will also have a close working relationship with their counterparts at the University of Nottingham in the UK and Malaysia, and with Directors of Research Centres / Institutes at UNNC.
UNNC is seeking a self-motivated and commercially creative Director with a proven track record of leading and managing research support, business development and commercialisation within Higher Education. With an extensive network of senior contacts in relevant industries, they will demonstrate an authoritative understanding of the field, significant management expertise and previous exposure to complex practices and precedents. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in developing and delivering business engagement strategies; their interpersonal and relationship building skills will enable them to work effectively with a wide range of partners, while motivating and managing a team of staff, including the management of change.
