Formed in 2002 through the bringing together of a number of well-established departments and research groups in the University of Liverpool, the School provides a world-leading environment for research, management and leadership education. Following the appointment of the School's Dean, Professor Julia Balogun, in 2015 and supported by strong ongoing investment from the University and the University's ambitious STRATEGY2031, ULMS is fulfilling its mission to be a globally connected Management School whose transformative research and teaching places it at the forefront of influential knowledge leadership bringing the School together with students, business and society in learning to make a difference.
Over the last five years ULMS has engaged in extensive recruitment of academic and professional services staff, expanding into a state-of-the-art extension adjacent to the Georgian quarter of Liverpool, including a trading room and a marketing suite. The School now has over 220 academic staff supported by 85 professional services colleagues. In its wider setting, the School benefits from Liverpool's standing as a member of the UK's leading Russell Group research-intensive universities and from its location in a city which combines strong cultural activity, excellent transport links, and regional beauty with a world heritage skyline and is highly ranked on quality of life in the UK, while remaining one of Britain's most affordable cities.
The Accounting and Finance Group is now seeking to appoint four new colleagues in Finance or Accounting at the level of Lecturer (the equivalent to Assistant Professor). We particularly welcome applications from candidates specializing in the areas of Empirical Asset Pricing, Empirical Corporate Finance and Market-Based Accounting Research.
You will possess a relevant PhD or be close to completion of a PhD in the area of Finance or Accounting and will demonstrate the potential of publishing world-class research. You will also be expected to demonstrate a desire and ability to teach subjects in Finance or Accounting, as you will teach on undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes. The School seeks excellence in all aspects of the student experience and looks for individuals with a passion for innovative pedagogies and the capacity to create and deliver new and highly contemporary modules.
It is possible to offer a salary supplement. Any such supplement will be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable record of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.
Applications for this position will also be considered for an ULMS 20 Year Anniversary Fellowship (also Grade 8). The Fellowships consist of an initial two-year appointment as a research fellow, with the opportunity to transfer to a Lectureship subject to candidates demonstrating they are able fulfil the role expectations at the end of the two years.
