Chief Education and Training Officer / Dean of Postgraduate Studies

Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust

Location: London
Salary: Not Specified
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 10th November 2023
Closes: 8th January 2024

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust are a specialist NHS mental Health Trust with a focus on training and education, as well as providing a full range of mental health therapies for children and their families, young people and adults.

For 100 years, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has forged new and distinctive ways of understanding and approaching all aspects of mental health and wellbeing for children and adult outpatients, locally and nationally. We also have a strong focus on education and training – and uniquely, both an Ofsted registration for the integrated school we run; and registration with the Office for Students, for our education and training activity where we are developing plans to have degree awarding ability.

This is a Board-level appointment and will be responsible for oversight and management of the Division of Education and Training. The appointee will develop and lead a Trust-wide strategy for education and training, whilst also leading business development and entrepreneurial activity; both representing our work externally, developing sales possibilities at local, national, and international level; and leading and supporting business development internally.

As the next Chief Education and Training Officer / Dean of Postgraduate Studies, we are seeking an innovative and experienced leader who will champion the high-quality education and training provided by the Trust, as well as strategically exploring new avenues and partnerships for innovation, growth, and development.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be highly credible in their area of expertise with a distinguished achievement record;
  • Have a strong commitment to higher education and to the NHS, as well as significant enthusiasm for, and demonstrable commitment to the work of the Trust and to improving lives of people affected by mental health problems;
  • Be an experienced and capable leader who can operate in complex environments;
  • Be an effective communicator in presenting complex information in such a way that can be understood and aid effective decision making at Board level.
