The Liverpool Clinical PhD Programme
Fully-funded PhD Fellowship Opportunities for the academic year 24/25
The University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine seek applications from UK-registered health professional graduates for our next annual cohort of Clinical PhD studentships, commencing September 2024, funded by Wellcome.
Role overview
There are 5 posts available which offer exciting opportunities in research training for doctors, nurses, midwives, veterinarians and other allied health practitioners. They offer a first step towards developing a research career in diseases of resource poor settings.
The successful applicants will be expected to spend a substantial amount of time overseas in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) completing a PhD project addressing a research question of relevance to local health needs. Usually this would be for 18 months or more.
Eligibility
To be eligible for our programme, applicants must possess a UK clinical license to practice.
Successful candidates will need to demonstrate:
Strong academic potential: A track record of academic excellence and a commitment to furthering their academic journey.
Global health interest: A genuine interest in addressing health issues in the Global South and a desire to dedicate their future career to this cause.
Liverpool connection: Identification of a suitable supervisor(s) at either the University of Liverpool or the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM).
Overseas partner: Identification of an overseas partner and supervisor who will support the proposed research project.
All prospective applicants are required to submit a 500-word concept note outlining a well-structured project proposal.
Full eligibility criteria (with Job Description) and a list of prospective supervisors can be found at Liverpool Clinical PhD Programme (LCPP) - Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences - University of Liverpool
