Hours: Full Time

Closes: 15th February 2024

About this Project:

A key challenge to improving Ocean Literacy is understanding how to market information to affect positive attitude and behaviour change. Framing similarities between humans and other species in conservation messaging may promote pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours towards species on the basis of shared bio-behavioural traits (e.g., personality and intelligence). This PhD will use an experimental approach to understand how peoples’ experience with the psychology of fish and marine invertebrates can impact Ocean Literacy beyond familiar species (e.g. marine mammals). We will evaluate how different audiences respond to various forms of knowledge dissemination on animal cognition. This project aims to improve our understanding of which information and which dissemination methods are most effective to enhance Ocean Literacy.
