We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning to teach across a range of courses within the School of Sport, Exercise and Applied Science and within the Strength and Conditioning Subject Area.

The Faculty of Sport, Technology and Health Sciences Exercise is an internationally-recognised centre with established expertise and resources in running undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Sport, Exercise and Applied Science. The Faculty is committed to offering students vocationally-relevant programmes of study with the highest academic standards. It has undergone rapid expansion in recent years, with the building of new facilities to support the programmes, and the employment of expert staff in the various fields study within the Faculty.

All of the Faculty’s teaching and learning activity is underpinned by significant research and enterprise (knowledge transfer) work, and staff are actively involved in professional associations.

The successful candidate will have an MSc, relevant experience in the field and be able to teach and supervise strength and conditioning students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Additionally, the candidate should possess experience working as a strength and conditioning practitioner in a performance setting.
  • To contribute to the teaching of core undergraduate and postgraduate Strength and Conditioning modules within the department of Sport and Exercise Science, and more broadly across the faculty. 
  • To contribute to the teaching and development of practical Strength and Conditioning sessions across all levels of study (undergraduate and postgraduate).
  • To supervise student projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • To develop and prepare learning resources/module booklets in support of teaching and learning, and to provide online resources to accompany this. 
  • To act as a personal tutor to a number of individual students and to uphold the University’s tradition of student-centred, tutor-supported learning. 
  • To actively participate in programme level initiatives and course developments. 
  • To contribute to curriculum development, policy formulation and planning for the Faculty.
  • To contribute to the research and/or knowledge transfer activities of the Faculty.
  • To engage with and strengthen the University Mission and to participate in the broader academic life of the University.
  • To support and help to develop the Subject Area strategy for growth and development.
  • To contribute to campus-based initiatives and activities where appropriate.
  • To undertake other duties as reasonably requested by the Head of School or roles as nominated by the Subject Lead for Strength and Conditioning.
