The Role:

Research Fellow in the field of quantum simulation for the development of quantum algorithms for dynamical open quantum systems. The job post will be held in the research group of Dr Jaewoo Joo at the School of Mathematics and Physics (SMAP) in the University of Portsmouth, UK. This role will play a key role in a part of international research collaborations with Quantum Computing Team at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) in Korea.

The main project will involve the development of robust quantum algorithms in the first- and second-quantised Hamiltonian models towards quantum chemistry. The candidate should have a strong track record in quantum computation and simulation field with experience of programming skills (i.e., Qiskit, Qutip, and Mathematica). Applicants are expected to have a PhD in a relevant area (e.g., quantum computing in Physics). The knowledge of physical systems for implementing quantum computers (e.g., superconducting circuits and ion traps) would be beneficial for conducting the project. The knowledge of quantum error-correction and computational skills for variational optimisation codes is also desired.
