Allen & York are excited to be supporting Water Resources East in recruiting for their new Research & Science Communicator. A home-based role, with occasional travel to London and the East of England, this will be the perfect role for an experience and confident Research & Science professional with a passion for the natural world.
In this role, you will lead research activity and your own investigations to bring the water resources story to life - especially in the changing climate and with the environment under severe pressure. You’ll also help communicate the wider water security challenge impacting Eastern England and the implications of WRE’s Regional Water Resources Plan for key sectors including agriculture, energy, industry, navigation and customers of the public water supply.
Your communication skills will help develop new ways to bring WRE’s ground-breaking work including their flagship projects like the Norfolk Water Strategy Programme to a wider audience in the UK and abroad. Using your project management skills, you’ll also lead on the logistics and content creation for WRE’s own engagement activity supporting their small but busy team – newsletters, webinars, social media activity and WRE’s website.
Providing strategic input to all WRE’s reports and publications, you’ll help the team define the right narrative and structure, and develop maps, charts and other exhibits, and write report sections, to communicate WRE’s key messages. You’ll develop and execute a stakeholder engagement strategy to grow the membership and continue to build collaborative, co-creation processes to build upon the work to date.
As well as being enthusiastic and committed, you will have outstanding written and oral presentation skills – these will be tested during the selection process (including copywriting, proofreading and editing). You’ll also have a background in water resources from an academic or professional background, or a related environmental science discipline – possibly with a post-graduate qualification, plus knowledge of the UK water industry and/or water and environmental land management issues faced globally, nationally and within UK regions.
It would be advantageous in the role if you had experience in web design, content production and video/audio podcasting and also experience in writing funding/bid applications.
This role is home based, full time.
This is an exciting role within Water Resources East, and will support the Technical Director to lead detailed research packages and to communicate WRE's work to members, stakeholders and the wider world. Please get in touch to find out more, email: mluck@allen-york.com
