Description of Post

This position presents an exciting opportunity for an effective, proactive individual, with substantive experience at in delivering construction projects to make a significant contribution to the future of ATU as it embarks on its next stage of development.

Location: Letterkenny Campus.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum

  • A minimum NFQ Level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline such as Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Project Management, Building Surveying, etc.,
  • A minimum of five years relevant experience, including a minimum of three years in the management of construction projects.

Desirable

  • A recognised qualification in Project Management or Construction Management.
  • Membership of a relevant recognised professional institution.
  • Experience in the procurement of public works and services using the Capital Works Management Framework.
  • IT skills relevant to the requirements of the post, ideally including MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Revit and AutoCAD.

Requirements Other

  • Applicants should have a clean driving licence, access to a vehicle and willingness to commute between campuses.
  • Applicants must demonstrate significant practical experience, a strong customer service perspective and a thorough understanding of general construction project management techniques and design team and contractor management, ideally in a large and complex organisation with a large property portfolio and diverse user communities.
  • Applicants must demonstrate extensive experience in successful, efficient and effective planning and management of budgets and financial resources.
  • Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of buildings, including historic buildings and building services.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of the public works appraisal, procurement and management frameworks, including the Capital Works Management Framework, the Public Spending Code, and EU Public Procurement requirements.
  • Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations, Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR), and Building Regulations.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work with a high degree of professional effectiveness including producing accurate reports, meeting deadlines, prioritising and delivering quality work.
  • Applicants must be able to work well within a broader team and demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness. Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as an ability to positively communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and to develop high impact written communications, including formal reports, submissions and presentations.
  • Applicants must be detail oriented and possess numerical aptitude, excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. They must be solution focused and forward thinking with the ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems and to develop innovative/creative solutions to multi-faceted problems.
  • Applicants must be resilient and enthusiastic with an ability to work proactively with a minimum of direction and operate flexibly within a busy environment and must demonstrate a willingness to work outside normal office hours when required.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a capacity for networking and keeping up to date with relevant industry developments, trends and best practice.
