We are looking for a friendly, engaging, enthusiastic person to join the School of Medicine Core Technical Services Community. This role will be based within the School’s Derby Technical Team, a highly skilled and dynamic group supporting multiple buildings performing multi-disciplinary teaching and research.
The purpose of this role will be to deliver timely and high-quality support for the School of Medicine teaching facilities under limited supervision. You will actively take part in laboratory based teaching activities as well as providing general support to laboratory facilities to ensure the safe and effective operation of research, teaching and laboratory activities. You will provide teaching support through allocating resources and providing technical assistance and training in the use of equipment and techniques to relevant staff and students to ensure objectives are met and will assist senior colleagues in the development of laboratory techniques and processes utilising your skills and knowledge.
The post is offered on a full time, permanent contract based at Derby. However, you will be expected to work flexibly to support the technical services across the School’s geographical sites. The post is offered on a permanent contract. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may also be considered.
Our School uses anonymised recruitment for technical services shortlisting, where we cannot see any personal data in your application, until shortlisting has been completed (you will apply by answering criteria-based questions relating to the person specification, rather than submitting a CV). All appointments are made on merit.
This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Skilled Worker, therefore we can only accept applications from candidates who already have the right to work in UK.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Owen McIntosh, email owen.mcintosh@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
