About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Technician. The main purpose of the post is: •To provide technical support to the teaching of the Chemistry and Natural Sciences Degree programmes within the various laboratory based disciplines. • Provide technical support in the Chemistry Department teaching laboratories. • Provide technical support to assigned chemistry teaching laboratory and be responsible for the resourcing for assigned chemistry teaching modules, including inventory, and ordering of resources, in liaison with the laboratory manager. • Provide Health and Safety support for the teaching laboratories. Hours of work will vary between 08:00 -16:00 and 11:00-19:00 depending on the laboratory courses running at the time. Due to the nature of the work some weekend working will be required and there will be restrictions when annual leave may be taken. The post is permanent (upon successful completion of the probationary period) and available immediately.
About you
The post holder should be educated to A level standard or have the equivalent or relevant laboratory experience or a recognised formal apprenticeship/training in a relevant scientific discipline. They should have a proven understanding and experience of implementing and adhering to safety protocols within a laboratory environment, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
