We are seeking a part-time 0.5 FTE Finance Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This post will cover a range of financial administration, which includes purchase to pay activities, receivable transactions, post-award research grant support and provide cover to our Stores Area when required. This is a key role working closely with various research groups and academics as well as other administrative teams within the department.

 

You will have a proven ability to work accurately and with a high level of attention to detail, be comfortable with figures, experience of working in an accounting type function, with great organisational skills and the capability to prioritise your own workload.

 

You will be working with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, so you will need to have the ability to interact with staff at all levels and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

We frequently interact with the central University Finance Team (to ensure that all financial transactions are processed in line with University financial controls) and with key suppliers. From filing to complex issues and orders – no two days are the same!  We are a close-knit team who communicate regularly to ensure that we provide a first class service to the Materials Department.

 

This post will suit someone with a wealth of knowledge about working in a busy office environment and who has a high level of IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and databases in particular. Experience of working with R12 would also be desirable.
