As part of a significant further investment in Computer Science, the University of York is seeking to appoint an internationally excellent Chair in Real-Time and Distributed Systems to join a vibrant and high-performing group. The Real-Time and Distributed Systems group is renowned for its work on the design and assurance of dependable systems, and world-leading cross-disciplinary research across a range of domains including embedded systems, Internet of Things, communications, high-performance and distributed computing, robotics, and the fields of automotive and avionics. Our highly collaborative work has been widely adopted by industry.
We remain world-leading in real-time and distributed systems, both in terms of teaching and research. The group is recognised as being internationally leading with a significant number of seminal works. Members of the group perform significant citizenship roles in international conferences and journals. They have also held senior leadership roles within the department and University. The group has attracted significant industrial and academic funding, and this has lead to a number of key outputs as part of the United Kingdom’s Research Excellence Framework including four 4* case studies.
