Applications are invited for a DPhil in Chemistry position, available from 1st October 2024, to work with Professor Yujia Qing in the Department of Chemistry, University of Oxford, UK. The projects, sponsored by the Horizon Europe Guarantee ERC Starting Grant, will aim to develop nanopore applications for single-molecule chemistry and biotechnologies.

The candidate is expected to have a strong interest in chemical biology, nanotechnology, organic chemistry, or biophysics. Applicants should have, or be expecting to obtain, a first or upper second-class undergraduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or a related discipline. The candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to research, the ability to independently lead their research project. The successful applicant will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory.

The studentship will cover course fees at the Home rate and will provide a stipend of no less than the standard UK Research Council rate, currently set at £18,622 per year for four years.
