Job description

King's Foundations is seeking an experienced professional to join as Senior Lecturer in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Education.

King’s Foundations is a department within King’s College London that provides high-quality international pathway, academic skills and English language preparation courses for King's students. We are looking for an experienced educator to join our team and lead the development of scholarship and teaching excellence in our department. The successful candidate be a well-rounded leader in educational development including in the use of digital education to enhance programmes of study and be a recognised leader in an area of scholarship.

The role will join the department’s executive team providing leadership across all areas of King’s Foundations activity. At present this executive body is not ethnically diverse, and we would like to change this. We, therefore, encourage applicants from ethnic minority backgrounds to apply for this role. F

As a Senior Lecturer, you will oversee the scholarly activity and Continued Professional Development (CPD) provision for our staff, work with the Director of Education to provide strategic leadership, manage the digital education team, and collaborate with other colleagues across the College.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will:

  • Oversee the scholarly activity of academic, teaching and digital education staff, and support them to engage in action research, publications, conferences, and other forms of knowledge exchange. You will also foster a culture of scholarship and innovation in teaching and learning across the department.
  • Be an established voice in a relevant area of scholarly activity such as assessment and feedback; generative AI; or curricula development.
  • Manage the digital education team, and oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of online and blended learning courses and resources. You will also ensure that digital education is aligned with the department’s scholarship agenda and supports staff development.

This new role will be joining King’s Foundations at an exciting time as we support our teaching staff to transfer over to Academic Education Pathway (AEP) contracts. As such, this post is being brought in on an AEP contract to reflect the nature of the role, and to provide the platform and esteem to excel in the position. The role will be subject to a probationary period of 3 years in line with other academic roles at the College.

This is a new senior role bringing together key areas of education within the department: CPD, Scholarly Activity and Digital Education. We welcome applications from people with expertise in each area, but are particularly interested in candidates with a background in facilitating scholarly activity. It is a great opportunity for someone wishing to shape the direction of these areas at King’s Foundations.
