Loughborough University London (LUL) is seeking to appoint an excellent PhD candidate to undertake a fully funded PhD project on Creative Technologies at our London-based interdisciplinary school.
Undertaken as part of the work of the CoSTAR Foresight Lab, our goal is to undertake interdisciplinary research that is bold, creative, and impact-focused to meet the grand challenges faced today.
We welcome applications from any candidate whose proposed research fits into the work of the Foresight Lab, which aims to foster new research on the application and convergence of technologies in the Screen and Performance sectors. We would encourage applications that draw on one or more of Loughborough London’s research strengths in Creative Industries, Digital Technologies, Design Innovation, International Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
You will join our diverse and international community of doctoral researchers and internationally recognised faculty of highly experienced academic supervisors. Your proposal should comprise a 4-page (circa 2000-word) outline of your proposed project covering the aim, research questions, literature review and proposed methodology. Potential candidates will be co-supervised by Professor Graham Hitchen. Applicants should follow LU’s guidance on writing research degree proposals.
Allied to Loughborough University’s Creating Better Futures. Together strategy, interdisciplinary research is fundamental to building inclusive communities in the face of new global geopolitical contexts, tackling climate change, net zero and sustainability, and grappling with the effects of AI and digital transformation.
We particularly welcome interdisciplinary project proposals, with a particular focus on the application of novel and emerging technologies in the Creative Industries, Carbon reduction, Skills and EDI.
This project is fully funded, covering fees and stipend. We welcome applications from UK and international candidates.
The studentship is for 3 years and provides a tax-free stipend of £20,622 per annum plus tuition fees.
