We are recruiting a postdoctoral research associate who will work on a large-scale research programme on “Challenges in Immersive Audio Technology (CIAT)” conducted in collaboration between King’s College London, University of Surrey, and University of Southampton.
Immersive technologies will transform our experience of the physical world, from museums to cars and classrooms. Despite significant progress in the computer vision community, long-standing fundamental challenges impact on audio technologies, preventing the immersion of an audience in an alternate reality. Existing technologies a) suffer from computational requirements preventing real-time creation of shared, interactive immersive audio experiences, and b) are limited in their ability to efficiently deliver shared, high-quality auditory experiences in 3D soundscapes to multiple listeners. CIAT’s vision is to transform the state of the art by developing a novel framework for capturing and reproducing only perceptually relevant information.
