About School of Sustainable Energy and Resources (hereinafter referred to as SSER) of Nanjing University

The School of Sustainable Energy and Resources (hereinafter referred to as SSER) of Nanjing University (hereinafter referred to as NJU) is one of the key schools firstly founded on NJU’s Suzhou Campus. The school is established on the strong foundation of NJU’s national “Double First-class” disciplines including Physics, Geology, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mining Engineering. With the support of the National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures and the Frontier Science Center for Critical Earth Material Cycles, SSER is striving to fulfill the strategic needs of “carbon neutrality” and to innovate and share theoretical foundations for habitable earth and sustainable development. SSER is dedicated to developing cutting-edge sciences and technologies in the cycles of energy and materials, in the meantime, building energy and resources management systems to meet the challenges of sustainable development. Job Summary

The School of Sustainable Energy and Resources at Nanjing University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of 'ZHICHENG Young Professor' (ZHICHENG means utmost sincerity in Chinese) in the research fields as follows: Energy Conversion and Storage, Energy & Catalysis, Energy-saving Materials and Technologies, Sustainable Exploitation & Utilization of Resources, Cycling and Purification of Key Elements, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage, Machine Learning Enabled Design of Energy Materials, Advanced Manufacture & Characterization, etc. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach related courses and participate in curriculum development;
  • Supervise and mentor graduate students and research staff;
  • Lead, direct and carry out research in the above-mentioned research areas at the highest scientifically rigorous levels, and generate original and cutting-edge academic achievements;
  • Contribute to the development of related disciplines and interdisciplines in the School and at broader levels.

Requirement

  • Applicants under the age of 40 (born on and after January 1, 1984).
  • A Ph. D degree in Natural Sciences, Engineering Technologies, etc.
  • Applicants are required to have obtained official teaching and/or research positions in overseas universities, research institutes, or the research and development departments of overseas enterprises, and have worked consecutively for more than 36 months before March 2024. The requirements about the length of service can be eased with applicants who have obtained their doctoral degrees overseas and have made noticeable achievements.
  • Applicants have not been working full-time in China or have started to work in China after January 1, 2023.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Remuneration:Minimum salary starting from 800,000 yuan during the employment period.

*Some departments have additional salary.

*Qualified talents can receive additional subsidies of no less than 600,000 yuan within the first three years of employment supported by the “Zijin Scholar” talent fund.

*Qualified talents can receive additional allowances supported by “Suzhou Excellent Talent Contribution Reward Allowance.”

  • Title:Appointed as 'ZHICHENG Young Professor', enjoying a satff status.
  • Tax-free allowance:A total of 1 million tax-free subsidies from the state and local governments.
  • Start-up fund:The state provides 1 million to 3 million yuan, and Nanjing University provides no less than 2 million yuan. Specially outstanding individuals can apply for additional funds.

*Personnel in related fields can apply for the “Suzhou Innovation and Entrepreneurship Leading Talent Project”, and receive funding support of 500,000 to 1 million yuan.

*Personnel in relevant fields can work part-time in Suzhou National Laboratory, enjoying the treatment of part-time laboratory personnel.

  • Housing:Nanjing University provides a housing subsidy of 1.4 million yuan (pre-tax) to support each candidate to purchase a talent house of Nanjing University (about 130 square meters).
  • Children’s education:Children can be arranged to study in high-quality kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools which are affiliated to Nanjing University.
  • Health care:VIP medical services are provided by the professional medical care team of the University hospital.
