The School of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences have an exciting opportunity for a two-year fixed term Fellowship. The post is supported through the David Cargill Trust, you will join the David Cargill Chair and academic team in the New Lister Building Campus. Clinical activities will be in those disciplines aligned with the Cargill Trust interests, namely older adult and stroke care and will be based in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Research activities will be in the broad areas of interest of the research group, namely brain health, frailty and/or stroke.

The Fellowship will provide an exceptional opportunity for further academic training that enables the successful candidate to compete for independent funding, typically in the form of an externally funded Fellowship. Appointment to this CCT Fellowship will end at the time of the candidate taking up their independently funded post. The anticipation is that the support will be for up to two years, but this may be extended if required.

You will hold MRCP (UK)/or equivalent and will have completed Higher Specialist Training in a medical specialty within 6 months prior to appointment. The successful candidate will be appointed at the appropriate entry level of Clinical Consultant and will hold a position of Senior Clinical Research Fellow and Honorary NHS Consultant.

The primary focus of the post is research, but NHS work as a consultant is a requirement. The minimum NHS commitment will be 20% and the maximum NHS commitment will be 50% of full time working, and the expectation is that the NHS will support this activity.  Research will be undertaken in the world class academic environment of the University of Glasgow with excellent opportunities in Clinical Trials, Stratified Medicine, Epidemiology, Systems Biology & Vascular Biology. 

We welcome applications from candidates who hold a MB ChB or equivalent and full registration with General Medical Council (for non-UK candidates, GMC registration would be required before taking up the post).
