Coventry University is seeking to appoint a Professor of Space, Place and the Creative Economy in its newly launched Centre for Creative Economies. Appointment to this position offers an opportunity to lead on the Centre’s research theme on Space, Place and the Creative Economy. It also allows the successful candidate to provide academic leadership in an area of critical importance to transdisciplinary research within the University and to cement its growing international reputation and ambitious research agenda.
The Centre for Creative Economies (CCE) was launched in July 2023. Its mission is to investigate the formation and practice of creative economies and their outcomes for people, place and planet. We combine social science, humanities, and arts approaches to provide innovative, transdisciplinary research on creative and cultural economies – for impact today and for sustainable and just futures tomorrow.
Moving beyond the confines of creative industries, creative economies seeks to capture the broader ecosystem of activity at the interface between creativity, culture, economics, environment and technology and its generation of forms of value and development in contemporary society.
PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
The successful candidate is expected to have an international reputation with a successful record of accomplishment of high-quality research outputs, income generation and public engagement. Candidates with a specialism in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: creative economies, space and place, transdisciplinary research.
This post will lead one of our initial research themes: Space, Place and the Creative Economy. Further leadership posts will support our other initial themes: Creative Economies and Ecological Sustainability, Understanding Creative Economies; Creative Economies for Health and Wellbeing; and Digital Heritage and Culture.
