Location: Cranfield, Bedfordshire
We welcome applications for this exciting new post from those with relevant knowledge and experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) focusing on multi-physics modelling and machine learning.
About the Role
This post will be contributing to research activities for an exciting new project and specifically to support the Centre for Computational Engineering Sciences. The focus will be on machine learning augmentation of multi-physics modelling through dimensionality reduction, fidelity level selection and surrogate models development and application for landing gear shock absorber systems to achieve the project objectives.
You will be educated to doctoral level in a relevant subject (or close to completion of your PhD), with the necessary technical knowledge and experience with a strong track record of developing novel CFD models, competent user of at least one programming languages (Fortran/Python/C/C++), experience in using and developing open-source CFD software, experience in pre-processing (CAD, Mesh generation), and post-processing (Paraview, Tecplot, Visit,Matlab) software packages, experience of using national HPC facilities for massively parallel simulations, knowledge of machine learning software tools (SciKit, Pytorch, Tensorflow).
A good track record of publishing at international peer-reviewed journals, and conference proceedings is desirable. With excellent communication skills, you will be a good team player and be able to work independently. Project planning is also an important skill for this post. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate self-motivation, perseverance and initiative.
