Applications are invited for fully funded Studentships in the School of Design and Creative Arts at Loughborough University. The School is looking for highly motivated and talented individuals to contribute the School’s vibrant research culture.

The University has three strategic themes of ‘health, wellbeing and sport’, ‘climate change and net zero’, and ‘vibrant and inclusive communities’. The School of Design & Creative Arts welcomes PhD research proposals within our areas of research strength in design, human factors and creative arts disciplines, but we especially encourage applications that align with one of the University themes. Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are listed using standard UK undergraduate degree classifications i.e. first-class honours, upper second-class honours and lower second-class honours.

Entry requirements for United Kingdom

Applicants must have or expect to achieve least a high 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in a relevant subject. A relevant Masters degree and/or employment experience will be an advantage.

2023-24 tuition fees are applicable to projects starting in January 2024, April 2024, and July 2024.2024-25 tuition fees are applicable to projects starting in October 2024, January 2025, April 2025 and July 2025.

The studentship is for 3 years and provides a tax-free stipend of £18,622 per annum (2023-24 rate) for the duration of the studentship plus tuition fees at either the UK or International rate.

As part of your application, you must submit a proposal (maximum 2 pages) and a portfolio, if applicable. Part of your proposal must specifically indicate how your research fits within one of the strategic priority themes.

The following selection criteria, as well as an assessment of how the project aligns with the School strategy and supervisor capacity, will be used by the School to help them make a decision on your application.
