Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics & Physics (CMP), Faculty of Science & Technology, The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate should be flexible and be able to teach various courses in Computer Science. A strong commitment to both research in their areas of expertise and teaching is a requirement. The candidate is also expected to participate in department and university activities.

Areas of particular interest for potential candidates are Blockchain Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Software Engineering. However, outstanding candidates in any area of Computer Science will be considered.

Candidates for the position of Lecturer must show strong potential for independent research and experience in teaching. At the Senior Lecturer Level, candidates must have a proven record of accomplishment in publication, successful postgraduate supervision, and leadership. Senior Lecturers are also expected to offer mentorship to junior faculty within the department and should show evidence of mentoring in previous roles. The successful candidate for the post is required to teach at all levels of the Computer Science, Information Technology and Software Engineering programmes; and may be asked to assist with coordination of our programmes with the disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Required:
    • At least a PhD degree in Computer Science or other related ICT discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
  • The following will be considered as additional assets
    • Industry recognized certification any areas of software application development or systems analysis from a recognized training institution.
    • Industrial experience in a computing related field.
    • Certificate or diploma in teaching.
