The LSE School of Public Policy aims to be the most globally-relevant policy school. It was founded in 2018 to harness the world-class social science research of LSE and offer  rich and applied training for future policy leaders. We are proud to be an international community where frontier social science research meets real-world policy-making.

The School of Public Policy (SPP) is now seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated manager able to drive the development and realisation of our strategy, objectives and new initiatives, lead the professional services staff team and manage the department’s resources across our teaching, research and policy engagement work.

This is a pivotal role in a vibrant and engaged academic department of LSE. The post-holder works in close partnership with the Dean and with the Academic Director on the development and implementation of strategy, managing human and financial resources, and leading the SPP’s Professional Services Team. The role is highly autonomous, with substantial latitude to propose strategic pathways and make managerial decisions.

To succeed in this role, candidates will need:

  1. Substantial line management experience
  2. The ability to craft, drive and implement strategy, taking account of complexities and competing priorities
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence a wide range of academic and professional stakeholders
  4. The ability to promote and plan for the enhancement of the student experience
  5. Budget management experience and a general facility with financial planning
  6. Excellent time-management and prioritisation skills
  7. The ability to make autonomous decisions with the judgement to refer to colleagues where necessary, including the ability to take decisions and to determine actions where information is incomplete and/or ambiguous
  8. A demonstrable commitment to the student experience in planning and prioritisation

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
