Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

In the last National Student Survey, The School of Psychology scored above the benchmark for all themes and saw an increase in our ranking across all major league tables, including The Times, Guardian, and Good University Guide. Alongside, the School has a thriving and vibrant research culture and outstanding teaching and research facilities. We submitted over 42 FTE staff to REF2021, increased our Research Power (from 27 in 2014 to 76 in 2021) and were ranked 37 out of 93 Institutions for Research Power. Staff in the department currently hold substantial research grants from funders including Euro EU Chanse, Wellcome, NIHR, ESRC, BA, NHS Trusts, and a range of charitable organisations. The Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/research/centres-and-institutes/research-centre-for-brain-and-behaviour brings together research in the department under four main themes: Neuroscience, Health and Wellbeing, Forensic Psychology and Cognition, Education and Language.

We are now looking to appoint a Principal Lecturer in Psychology.

This post is a strategic leadership role and provides an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and motivated team at a significant time of growth for the School of Psychology and the Faculty of Health. It involves line management of a small group of academic staff and offers the opportunity to provide academic leadership in the design and delivery of high-quality programmes of study.
