The Wales Research and Diagnostic PET Imaging Facility is a state-of-the-art PET centre and is seeking to appoint a new Head of PET Physics. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and flexible individual, with attention to detail, to join our team of experts who produce radiopharmaceuticals to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards in purpose designed aseptic facilities and perform PET CT scans on our state-of-the-art GE Omni Legend PET Scanner.

As the Head of Physics, you will be a key member of PETIC’s Senior Management Team. You will act as the Medical Physics Expert for the facility and will be responsible for actioning and overseeing radiation safety within the facility, including radiopharmaceutical production, clinical and pre-clinical scanning. You will also work closely with PETIC’s Radioactive Waste Advisor and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors as well as the Medical Physicists at Velindre Cancer Centre. The post holder will be responsible for actioning and overseeing radiation safety within the facility.
One of the important parts of this role is to lead on the provision of professional advice and guidance on Medical Physics processes and procedures for PET service under IRR and IR(ME)R as well as providing physics input on strategic developments and plans.

This exciting role would suit a medical physicist with a genuine desire to provide expertise in positron emission tomography and who is motivated to develop their own portfolio of methodological research.

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended.

Salary: £59,421 - £64,914 per annum (Grade 8).  Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
