About us

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with the blood cancer myeloma and related conditions. We are committed to bringing together the best and brightest people to help us ensure that every patient has an empowered present and a hopeful future.

Our goal is to find a cure. We are dedicated to ensuring that patients get access to the right treatment at the right time, and to improving standards of treatment and care through research, education and awareness raising. We also provide a range of information and support services to patients, family, and friends to help deal with a diagnosis of myeloma.

This is an exciting time to join Myeloma UK, as we embark on a new organisational and research strategy. We have recently launched a new Survivorship Programme which aims to identify and address the challenges that emerge as patients live longer with myeloma. The Chapman-Livanos Survivorship Fellowship is a new position that will play a critical role in one of our first major survivorship projects, which will investigate the links between myeloma and heart and circulatory disease.

About the role

The Chapman-Livanos Survivorship Fellowship is a new role which is being funded by two generous donors - Sir Frank Chapman and the George P Livanos Foundation. The donors have come together to jointly fund the first phase of a new research initiative investigating heart and circulatory disease and its links to the rare blood cancer myeloma. The intent is that this prestigious fellowship will bring a new understanding to life-threatening circulatory events experienced by some myeloma patients, and so materially contribute to their survivorship journey.

This is a unique opportunity to work with the Principal Investigator and external agencies/researchers to deliver this flagship research programme.  You will be leading on all aspects of the day-to-day management of the programme, including analysis of data, development of surveys, drafting reports and papers, and reporting on progress.

You will work closely with colleagues across Myeloma UK, as well as building and developing relationships with relevant research communities and stakeholders, representing the charity at meetings and conferences, as required.

About you

You will be educated to PhD level in a relevant field and have a proven track record in Applied Health Research, as well as experience in a healthcare academic environment, including working with cancer patients. You will have knowledge of health research methodologies, managing and analysing big data, and expertise in the delivery of systematic reviews, development of surveys, and management and analysis of large datasets.

You will need excellent communication and relationship building skills, and the ability to work independently and to tight deadlines.

Benefits

Myeloma UK offers its employees a range of benefits including a pension salary exchange scheme, flexitime, flexible working from home with hub-based office working, health plan and holiday purchase scheme and we are committed to providing learning and development opportunities for all our employees.
