The Role

We are seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic individual with experience in testing and studying electrochemical system dynamics (e.g. Electrolysers) to join our group in studying dynamics of water electrolyser system integrated with floating wind.

You will become a part of a research team spanning five institutes, collaborating on a 5-year grant named 'Ocean Refuel’.  The project 'Ocean Renewable Energy Fuels' aims to investigate methods for harnessing ocean energy to produce fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia. These fuels can be utilised in heating, energy storage, and difficult-to-decarbonise transportation applications.

The Electrochemical Engineering group at School of Engineering is recognised as world leading with expertise focusing on electrochemical energy conversion and storage. Prof. Mohamed Mamlouk has a long track record and international standing in hydrogen research. You'll collaborate closely with the Newcastle team on (electrocatalyst and electrode modelling) for the project, and work closely with the floating platform team at Strathclyde University. You will be part of multiplanetary international teams of over 15 researchers with access to state-of-the-art facilities.
