We at Bishop’s University, located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Abenaki people, invite applications for a tenure-stream faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a specialization in one of the following fields related to Sport Management: Event Management or Legacy; Digital Media or Technology; Leadership or Governance; Communications; Strategic Management; Sustainability; or other related fields. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2024.

The Position and our Department

The successful candidate will contribute to the Department’s Business and Society Concentration and be expected to maintain a productive research program and introduce new courses, such as: sport event management, sports centre management and recreation planning, sport and social media, and/or other courses in the candidate’s area of interest and expertise. The successful candidate will also possess a research profile including publications or other relevant output, the capacity to attract external funding, and a completed Ph.D. (at the time of appointment) in a relevant discipline.

Bishop’s University is a public and secular institution offering undergraduate and graduate courses. Founded in 2009, the Department of Sports Studies has an undergraduate student body of 250 Majors and 30 Minors spread across three concentrations: Athletic Development, Business and Society, and Health and Exercise. The Department has four tenure-stream faculty members and several contract faculty members, and it operates a Sports Studies Collaboratory research space in the Bishop’s University Sports Centre (i.e., Sports Laboratory).
