The University of Edinburgh aims to deliver positive impact for society. This means we want to improve peoples’ lives and protect the planet. Our commitments include being a zero carbon and zero waste University; promoting, protecting and respecting human rights; and critically engaging with and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Senior Biodiversity Manager is responsible for delivering a holistic approach to biodiversity across all of our operations whilst supporting biodiversity work within the University's learning and teaching, research and commercialisation. Biodiversity impacts within our operations include for example impact resulting from our investments, supply chain, five physical campuses, and wider city region.
Much of this role's impact will be delivered via other University functions and local partnerships, meaning the ability to influence via strong internal and external senior relationships and partnerships will be key to success. The role will include line management responsibilities for a small team. There will also be student and staff placements, external consultancy, and partnership projects with, for example, the City of Edinburgh Council to oversee.
